I recently had the honor of organizing a special Learner Analytics Speaker Series for Asbury University, featuring special guests from within the university, as well as the IEEE International Consortium for Innovation and Collaboration in Learning Engineering (ICICLE) special interest groups. (Learn more: https://sagroups.ieee.org/icicle/)
Each week featured a different guest speaker, sharing real-world applications of learner analytics as applied to a variety of instructional design and learning engineering projects from around the world:
Guest Speakers
- Brittany Robinson (Tampa, FL, USA) shared a data analytics dashboard for an Open Educational Resource (OER) project serving rural African secondary schoolteachers.
- Asbury University’s Director of Instructional Design, Rick Cook MEd (Wilmore, KY, USA), shared D2L Learning Management System (LMS) tools and reporting.
- Lylia “Li” Lang (Sydney, Australia), a special guest speaker from IEEE ICICLE, presented on real-world applications of data instrumentation and analytics for instructional design and learning engineering. This will be a presentation you won’t want to miss!
- Devan Walton and Arun Balajiee Lekshmi Narayanan (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) presented a prototype of their ChatDA, which aims to simply data interaction for students.
All events are open to Asbury students, faculty, and alumni, even if you’re not enrolled at Asbury University.
